Jumpcut is a website that provides free video editing and hosting services.
The website was launched as a private alpha in January of 2006 and as a public
beta on April 4, 2006. Since October 2006 Jumpcut has been owned by Yahoo.
Jumpcut has its offices in the SOMA district of San Francisco, California.
The name is derived from the jump cut, a video artifact that results from the
splicing together of two separate parts of the same shot, or similar sections
from two different shots.
